Travel Aware partners play a key role in disseminating important safety messaging to British Nationals before they set off abroad, with the aim to help stop preventable consular cases and to ensure they have safe and enjoyable trips
The FCDO’s Travel Aware Winter campaign toolkit available to download here, including a suite of social assets, suggested social copy and guidance to support safe and enjoyable overseas travel.
How members can use these resources
The Travel Aware Winter toolkit is designed to support BETA members in sharing and signposting to the latest Trav
el Advice and practical safety information to support trips with young people, as well as the parents, carers, and teachers responsible for them. Amplification of messaging and signposting could be via:
- Pre-departure information packs and booking confirmations
- Direct parent and guardian communications (such as social channels, emails and newsletters, websites, and blog posts)
- Student briefings and staff guidance
The FCDO are also happy for Travel Aware partners and supporting organisations, when relevant, to share messages in their own brand look and feel.

What the Travel Aware Winter toolkit covers
This year’s assets include winter sun holidays; city breaks and ski trips. The key messages across each strand are:
- Check Travel Advice for all the latest information on your destination
- Get insurance, check your cover
- Keep your passport safe
- Winter sports (combination of all messaging) – check Travel Advice, get appropriate insurance, ski safely, be avalanche aware and check EHIC/GHIC
Some messages and assets may be more relevant than others to your specific audience, but the FCDO would encourage you to review the toolkit and use what is appropriate for your channels and audience.
Thank you for your continued support. Please do not hesitate to get in contact with sarah.brady@fcdo.gov.uk if you have any questions.
