Some useful information and tips to help you prepare for the 2026 Summit
The British Educational Travel Association (BETA) are looking forward to welcoming you to the UK for our Youth & Student Travel Summit and wrap-around familiarisation programme.
Below is some information to help you plan and prepare for your participation.
Your Hosted Buyer place is free of charge, and as per the T&Cs you have agreed to take part in all elements of the itinerary between 5th October – 8th October 2026, which includes:
- Accommodation plus full ground package (meals and refreshments)
- Attendance at the BETA Youth & Student Travel Summit
- Participation in all elements of the wrap-around familiarisation visit
- Add this event to your calendar
- It is your responsibility to ensure that you have all of the correct permissions to travel to the UK
What to bring
A UK Travel adapter–In the UK we use a three-plug adapter, which may not be suitable for your devices. Please ensure you have the correct adapter, as you might not be able to use your devices, or you may have to buy one once here.
Bring a raincoat, the weather can be unpredictable in the city, a raincoat will be very handy if you are out and about walking. If possible, an umbrella too.
Money/UKGBP–If you wish to buy anything whilst in the UK, it may be worthwhile bringing extra money. The currency is Pounds Sterling
Dress Code: Business attire is recommended for the Summit, while smart casual attire is acceptable for the fam trip, social and evening events. Comfortable clothing and footwear are advised for tours and excursions.
What to wear
As you are visiting in October, the weather in the city has started to drop. It can often be windy and cold, with potential for rain. The average temperature for October is highs of 15 degrees and lows of 9 degrees, with around 15 days of rain.
Ensure you wear warm, comfortable clothing. It may be best to bring layers, as the temperature can often fluctuate. Suitable layers include gloves, fleece/sweatshirt, raincoat, and long-sleeved clothing.
Feel free to bring smart casual clothes for evening dinners. However, please do make sure these are weather-appropriate, as walking still may be required.
The city is very walkable, and you can often spend a lot of time on your feet. Ensure you wear warm, comfortable, weather-appropriate shoes suitable for walking.
